Cabarrus Family Medicine is a unique multi-clinic group of
25 family medicine faculty committed to excellence and providing
comprehensive family healthcare including obstetrics. This
is truly a residency within a practice, with outpatient training
taking place in four private family medicine clinics located
in the four municipalities of Cabarrus County. With over 70,000
patients, the family medicine clinics and faculty offer excellent
practice-based learning for residents. Specialty services
include a psychological and behavioral health practice and
a Sports Medicine and Injury Center. Inpatient training occurs
at NorthEast Medical Center, named by Solucient as a Top 100
Hospital in the category of teaching hospitals for the past
four years. As the only residents at NEMC, CFMR residents
get to work and learn directly from many of the quality physicians
on the 310 member active medical staff. The program is developing
a sports medicine fellowship to begin in July 2006. The program
is a also site for the required third year family medicine
clerkship and hosts about 30 students a year for outpatient
family medicine and acting intership rotations. Located just
northeast of Charlotte, NC, residents can enjoy living in
a mid-size city while having easy access to the many cultural
and sports activities available in Charlotte.
